The Swing Detective

The Swing Detective is a teaching aid designed to visualize, analyze and immediately fix swing faults. The durable metal unit attaches to any golf club hosel. With its unique LED light system, it gives instant feedback on clubface angle at impact: open, closed or square and swing path: out–to-in, in–to–out or in-to-in. The device is used only as a swing device with practice swings, not actual ball striking.

This device allows the player an opportunity to see and understand what is happening through the impact zone in relation to clubface angle and swing path. The instant feedback that is given allows me to work with my students on correcting their swing faults producing straighter golf shots.

The feedback I received from some of my students was that it was difficult to read the light when you were outside in sunlight. The teaching aid makes it more practical to use indoors where you can pick-up the light readings more clearly. The device was easy to attach to the golf club hosel and was not obstructive for the swings. Most players commented on the ease of its use and understood what light formation was doing in relation to their actual golf swings.

In summary, the Swing Detective can be a valuable tool in one’s quest for a more consistent, repeating golf swing. This tool can allow a player to become more familiar with their clubface angle and swing path and allow them to work on different aspects of their swing to correct their swing faults. More solid contact and straighter golf shots is what most players are searching for and this teaching aid can be a welcomed addition to one’s golf inventory.

It works through an LED light system, that illuminates on the downswing, allowing players to see in crisp, bright lines exactly how they are swinging through contact. They are only hitting the ball flush when the lines come together and how the lines are separated shows what particular flaw is in the swing.  It can be used anywhere that a club can be safely swung.
