TMZ stated that they had been told by an unidentified source that Tiger said his wife had confronted him about reports that he was seeing another woman.

The argument got heated and, according to TMZ's source, she scratched his face.

Then Woods got in his SUV and according to the source, Woods says his wife followed behind with a golf club.

TMZ's source then said that as Tiger drove away, she struck the vehicle several times with the club.

The sources continued saying that Woods then became "distracted," thought the vehicle was stopped, and looked to see what had happened. At that point the SUV hit the fire hydrant and then hit a tree.

The source also said that Woods had said he had been taking prescription pain medication for an injury, which could explain why he seemed somewhat out of it at the scene.

TMZ also stated that they have been told that Elin told Florida Highway Patrol about the argument at the scene of the accident and Tiger gave the same story to authorities at the hospital where he was treated.

Police spokesman Kim Montes says that both rear passenger windows on Tiger's luxury vehicle had been smashed.

Asked about the reports that the couple had been arguing in the hours leading up to the crash, she added: 'It is our plan to speak to Mr Woods and his wife. She was not involved in the accident but is considered a witness and we want to hear what she wants to say.'

Florida State Troopers return to attempt to interview Woods but are again turned away.

Rachel Uchitel flew to Los Angeles to meet up with high profile celebrity lawyer Gloria Allred after releasing a statement, "Despite it being completely untrue, it still must have certainly caused some problems at home - if I was his wife, I probably would have killed him. We have never had an affair, talked on the phone or sent any type of text, sexy or not."

Los Angeles attorney Gloria Allred confirmed she was representing Uchitel when she was reached by the AP on Sunday.

“She is with me in L.A.,” Allred said later in an e-mail to the AP. “We plan to meet and then we’ll decide on the next step, which we do not plan to announce to the press.”

Uchitel did not speak to reporters except to ask that she be left alone.
