Markham, ON (August 12, 2010) Ten junior golfers are set to embark on a experience of a lifetime come Saturday when CJGA Team Canada heads to Trinidad & Tobago to compete in the 6th annual Stephen Ames Cup at St. Andrews Golf Club in Moka, Trinidad.
The annual event hosted by PGA Tour professional and CJGA National Spokesperson Stephen Ames is a Ryder Cup format event that will see ten juniors from Canada compete against ten juniors from Trinidad & Tobago, Ames’ country of birth.
Ames, a resident of Calgary, Alta. who was born in Trinidad & Tobago, initiated the tournament to provide junior golfers from both countries an opportunity to compete in an international event that promotes goodwill and sportsmanship between the two nations.
Stephen will be on hand for the entire week of the event, interacting and assisting the juniors both on and off the golf course.
The Stephen Ames Cup, which alternates between Canada and Trinidad & Tobago every year, will mark the third time the event will take place at St. Andrew’s Golf Club.
Trinidad & Tobago currently hold a 3-2 series lead after defeating the Canadian squad at Canyon Meadows G&CC in Calgary, Alberta last year, the first time a nation has won on visiting soil.
CJGA Team Canada will be represented by juniors spanning the country as they qualified through the twelve event NIKE Golf Junior Series.
