|Play In Southern Albertas Golfing Paradise|
Paradise Canyon Golf Resort is one of those resorts you can’t seem to forget.
Whether it’s the Oldman River with the railway bridge in the distance, the friendliness of everyone you meet or the sheer brilliance of the Bill Newis design, is one that just sticks with you.
Golf Digest has recognized Paradise Canyon as one of Canada's top 60 courses. The course was also awarded the #1 rating in Southern Alberta. It has also been rated as one of the top courses in Western Canada and described by Golf Digest as "one of the best places to play.”
Even the country’s best amateurs tested their mettle here when The Canadian Amateur was held at Paradise Canyon in 2008.
One avid player, Dave Johnson from Canmore in the Alberta Rockies, sums up Paradise Canyon this way, "An Unrivaled Golf Experience... I have played 3 of the top 10 and a dozen of the top 75 ranked courses in Canada from Highlands Links in Cape Breton to the National Golf Club in Woodridge and Capilano in West Vancouver.
I am a serious golf addict. When I played Paradise Canyon it absolutely blew me away! I really don't know why Paradise isn't ranked number one in the country. This is an unrivaled golf resort experience in my opinion."
His reaction is likely due to Paradise Canyon’s fantastic layout and its variety of terrain from desert to valley.
Located in a canyon with the beautiful cliffs of Old Man River as the backdrop, wind is always a factor here and the direction of the holes take full advantage of it.
You will use every club in your bag. This golf course is extremely friendly but to ensure that you have the most enjoyment, match the right tees for your ability.
Visitors’ favourite holes? #12 is very popular but many players like #4 as well.
Hole #12, you’ve got a 143 yard, par 3. Depending on the wind, the signature hole at Paradise can require anything from a pitching-wedge to a 4-iron. On a calm day, taking one less club for the 140 feet of elevation drop can set up a good birdie opportunity.
With hole #4 you’ve got a great three shot par 5. A strong drive on this 544 yard hole will leave you in the right centre of the fairway to avoid the water left and set up a long iron lay up. The three-tiered, very shallow green is protected by sand and long rough. Miss this green and par becomes difficult.
Paradise Canyon is more than just a great golf course, it’s a complete resort.
Accommodations are located at the center of the facility where you’ll also find the top notch Paradise Canyon Restaurant.
On Fridays and Saturdays enjoy Prime Rib followed by an outstanding Sunday Brunch.
