MONTREAL -- Fred Couples and Nick Price are among four top names to withdraw from this week's US$1.8-million Montreal Championship seniors golf tournament at Richelieu Valley Golf Club.
Couples pulled out with a recurring back issue, while Price also cited an injury.
Tom Lehman and Kenny Perry withdrew for personal reasons.
Organizers say they are disappointed, but still have a strong field that includes Tom Kite, Hale Irwin, Corey Pavin, Mark Calcavecchia, Jeff Sluman, Fred Funk, Jay Haas, Mark O'Meara and others.
The Champions Tour tournament, which begins Friday, also beefed up its local content by granting exemptions to Quebec golfers Jean Laforce, Marc Girouard and Claude Tremblay.
The event was moved to Richelieu Valley this year after being held for its first two years at Fontainebleau.
