Top-20 LPGA Tour Money Leaders Confirmed For CN Canadian Women's Open

Coquitlam, B.C. (Golf Canada) – With less than two weeks to go until Canada’s National Women’s Open Championship, Golf Canada has confirmed that the top-20 players on the current LPGA Tour money list will challenge for the $2.0 million USD purse at the 2012 CN Canadian Women’s Open, August 20-26 at The Vancouver Golf Club in Coquitlam, B.C.

Leading the way is current LPGA Tour money leader Stacy Lewis, a 3-time LPGA Tour event winner who has a pair of tournament victories in 2012 (Shoprite LPGA Classic & Mobile Bay LPGA Classic).
 
Lewis, currently the no. 2 ranked player on the Rolex Women’s World Golf Ranking, finished T2 at the 2011 CN Canadian Women’s Open.
 
Lewis will be joined at The Vancouver Club by the first three LPGA Tour major winners of the season including world no. 14 ranked Sun Young Yoo (Kraft Nabisco Championship), world no. 4 ranked Shanshan Feng (Wegmans LPGA Championship) and Na Yeon Choi (U.S. Women’s Open), a six-time winner on the LPGA Tour currently ranked no. 3 on the Rolex Women’s World Golf Ranking.
 
Also confirming her intention to compete for Canada’s National Women’s Open title is fan-favourite Morgan Pressel, a two-time winner on the LPGA Tour currently ranked no. 27 on the Rolex Women’s World Golf Ranking.

Lewis, Choi, Feng, Yoo and Pressel will join a world-class field at The Vancouver Golf Club that includes defending champion Brittany Lincicome and world No. 1 Yani Tseng as well as LPGA Tour stars Suzann Pettersen, Paula Creamer, Cristie Kerr, Katherine Hull, Michelle Wie and teenage sensation Lexi Thompson.  
 
The field for the 2012 CN Canadian Women’s Open will also include 13 Canadian competitors including Alena Sharp of Hamilton, Ont., Lorie Kane of Charlottetown, P.E.I., Rebecca Lee-Bentham of Richmond Hill, Ont., , Stephanie Sherlock of Barrie, Ont., Samantha Richdale of Kelowna, B.C., Isabelle Beisiegel of Sainte Hilaire, Que., Jessica Shepley of Oakville, Ont., Kirby Dreher of Fort St. John, B.C. and Sara Maude Juneau of Fossambault, Que. as well as Team Canada members Jennifer Kirby of Paris, Ont., Jisoo Keel of Coquitlam, B.C., Brittany Marchand of Orangeville, Ont. and Brooke Henderson of Smiths Falls, Ont. 
 
LPGA Tour rookie Maude-Aimée LeBlanc of Sherbrooke, Que. was originally scheduled to compete but a recently diagnosed stress fracture in her back will force her to miss the remainder of the 2012 LPGA Tour season.
 
A field of 156 competitors will vie for the $2 million CN Canadian Women’s Open.  The deadline for players to confirm their intention to compete at the 2012 CN Canadian Women’s Open in Coquitlam, B.C. is Tuesday, August 14, 2012.
