When you talk about home field advantage, Royal Colwood has a history of playing favourites.
Margaret Sayward-Wilson, daughter of club founder Joseph Sayward, won the 1927 B.C. Ladies Amateur on her home course defeating three-time defending champion Mrs. Vera Hutching in the final.
One golfer who is hoping that history repeats itself will be long-time Royal Colwood member, Kevin Carrigan.

My first memory of Royal Colwood Golf Club goes back to the summer of 1967 and is still crystal clear.
I was a junior at Marine Drive and my instructor, Jack Westover, was an assistant pro who also taught one of the top amateur players in Canada — Wayne Vollmer, another member at Marine Drive.
The Canadian Amateur was being held at Colwood, Wayne had finished tied for first in 36-hole stroke-play qualifying and Jack asked me if I wanted to come with him to watch Wayne in the first round of match play.
I jumped at the chance.

Their first date was on a golf course. They got married on the 7th tee. Now they both teach at GolfBC’s Olympic View Golf Academy. Ladies and Gentlemen, may I introduce John and Lori Randle.
