Contract Extension for PGA of Canada CEO Gary Bernard

Gary BernardThe PGA of Canada’s Board of Directors has approved a contract extension for Chief Executive Officer Gary Bernard until 2019.

The 58-year-old Bernard has been CEO of the PGA of Canada since 2010.

“On behalf of the National Board of Directors’ of the PGA of Canada, I am thrilled to announce we have reached an agreement with Gary Bernard to continue in his role as Chief Executive Officer until the year 2019,” said PGA of Canada President Constant Priondolo. “Gary became CEO during the global economic downturn but has managed to positively navigate the association by maintaining strong membership numbers, posting positive financial results and by building a young, energetic and passionate team at the national headquarters.”

PGA Club Professional Championship of Canada Headed Back to Arizona

Verrado Golf ClubBUCKEYE, Arizona (Chris Fry/PGA of Canada) — The PGA Club Professional Championship of Canada returns to Arizona this November.

Verrado Golf Club, located just west of Phoenix in Buckeye, Ariz., plays host to the national championship Nov. 15-18.

“We’re very excited to be headed back to Arizona and even more excited to be going to Verrado Golf Club the PGA Club Professional Championship of Canada,” said PGA of Canada president Constant Priondolo. “Last year was a great success with a full field in Arizona and we expect the same this year.”

Community Golf Coach ProgramOAKVILLE, Ontario (Tyler Costigan/Golf Canada) — The PGA of Canada, in partnership with Golf Canada and the Coaching Association of Canada, are pleased to introduce the Community Golf Coach supported by CN Future Links program, a community stream context within the National Coaching Certification Program (NCCP) designed strictly for junior golf volunteers.

The initiative is backed by extensive research into Canada’s volunteer training curriculums for sport across the country. Industry experts implemented the program to address the gap between PGA of Canada professionals and available volunteer support from family and friends.
