Brooke Henderson to Defend PGA Women’s Championship of Canada Title

Brooke HendersonCanadian golf superstar Brooke Henderson brings her talents to the Burlington Golf and Country Club for the PGA Women’s Championship of Canada.

The 17-year-old native of Smiths Falls, Ont., defends her PGA Women’s Championship of Canada title, but is up against one of the strongest fields in the championship’s nearly 30-year history.

Currently ranked No. 32 in the world, the Smiths Falls, Ont., native recently finished T5 at the U.S. Women’s Open at the Lancaster Country Club. Henderson also finished T5 at the Women’s PGA Championship—the second of the LPGA Tour’s five majors—in June.

PGA of Canada and Acushnet Canada Renew Partnership for PGA Club Professional Championship

The agreement sees Titleist & FootJoy remain the title sponsor of the PGA Club Professional Championship of Canada for 2015 and as the presenting sponsor for 2016 and 2017.

“Acushnet Canada has been one of our longest standing partners and we are pleased to have them on board until 2017,” said PGA of Canada CEO Gary Bernard. “Our PGA Club Professional Championship is one of the majors on our schedule and we look forward to celebrating it for years to come.”

This year's Titleist & FootJoy PGA Club Professional Championship of Canada takes place November 15-18, at Verrado Golf Club in Buckeye, Ariz.

Contract Extension for PGA of Canada CEO Gary Bernard

Gary BernardThe PGA of Canada’s Board of Directors has approved a contract extension for Chief Executive Officer Gary Bernard until 2019.

The 58-year-old Bernard has been CEO of the PGA of Canada since 2010.

“On behalf of the National Board of Directors’ of the PGA of Canada, I am thrilled to announce we have reached an agreement with Gary Bernard to continue in his role as Chief Executive Officer until the year 2019,” said PGA of Canada President Constant Priondolo. “Gary became CEO during the global economic downturn but has managed to positively navigate the association by maintaining strong membership numbers, posting positive financial results and by building a young, energetic and passionate team at the national headquarters.”

PGA Club Professional Championship of Canada Headed Back to Arizona

Verrado Golf ClubBUCKEYE, Arizona (Chris Fry/PGA of Canada) — The PGA Club Professional Championship of Canada returns to Arizona this November.

Verrado Golf Club, located just west of Phoenix in Buckeye, Ariz., plays host to the national championship Nov. 15-18.

“We’re very excited to be headed back to Arizona and even more excited to be going to Verrado Golf Club the PGA Club Professional Championship of Canada,” said PGA of Canada president Constant Priondolo. “Last year was a great success with a full field in Arizona and we expect the same this year.”
