Coach of Developing Competitors WorkshopThe PGA of Canada’s teaching and coaching momentum continues February 2016 with the impressive Coach of Developing Competitors (CDC) Workshop.

Specifically designed for coaches supporting developing athletes, this six-day education gathering—best described as a coach camp—features group dinners, socials, great debates and learning experiences with world-renowned facilitators. Attendees can expect action-packed interactive sessions, while putting theory into practice thanks to a variety of indoor and outdoor sessions throughout the week.

The Mid Ocean ClubTUCKER’S TOWN, Bermuda — The inaugural Nike Golf PGA Team Championship of Canada will be decided in Bermuda.

One of the world’s most iconic golf courses, The Mid Ocean Club, plays host to 52 two-person teams of PGA of Canada professionals on October 27-29, for a 54-hole national championship that features different team formats for each day—fourball, foursomes and scramble.

“We’ve been looking forward to this national championship for quite a while now,” said PGA of Canada president Constant Priondolo. “It undoubtedly has the winning recipe for success: a unique format, a phenomenal golf course and excellent support from both PGA of Canada professionals and partners alike.”

Community Golf Coach(PGA of Canada) — What exactly does a Community Golf Coach look like—Parent? Teacher? Coach? Volunteer? Golfer?

How about all of the above.

“Community Golf Coach is really great for people who are volunteers at a golf club, teachers and folks who are really just into helping out junior golf in Canada,” said Amanda Minchin, head professional at Estevan Woodland Golf Club in Saskatchewan.

Re-launched earlier this year, Community Golf Coach is a community stream context within the National Coaching Certification Program (NCCP) designed strictly for junior golf volunteers. The initiative is backed by extensive research into Canada’s volunteer training curriculums for sport across the country. Industry experts implemented the program to address the gap between PGA of Canada professionals and available volunteer support from family and friends.

New Era CapThe PGA of Canada is proud to announce a new national partnership with the world’s leading headwear manufacturer, New Era Cap.

The agreement sees the creation of a New Era welcome package for new PGA of Canada members. In addition, New Era joins the PGA of Canada’s Retirement Advantage Program.

Trio of PGA of Canada Members Inducted to Manitoba Golf Hall of Fame

altThree PGA of Canada members — Past PGA of Canada president Barrie McWha, life professional Leonard Harvey, and Harold Eidsvig (deceased) — were recently inducted into the Manitoba Golf Hall of Fame.

McWha entered through the Builder category, while Harvey and Eidsvig entered through the Athlete/Builder category.

“On behalf of the PGA of Canada and the association’s 3,700 members from across the country, I sincerely congratulate Barrie McWha, Lenoard Harvey and the late Harold Eidsvig on their induction into the Manitoba Golf Hall of Fame,” said PGA of Canada president Constant Priondolo. “All three men selflessly served as a dedicated ambassadors for the game of golf in Canada and were proud members of our association.”
