13 Canadians To Battle For Status In Stage II Of Web.com Tour Qualifying School

Riley Fleming13 Canadians will be among approximately 375 athletes competing for 2017 playing status at the second stage of Web.com Tour Qualifying School, hosted at five different sites across the United States from November 1–11.

Each qualifying site will host 72-hole stroke-play events with 78-player fields and no cuts. The number of players advancing from each site will be determined on a pro-rated basis (announced during play).

Mackenzie Tour - PGA TOUR CanadaThe Mackenzie Tour - PGA TOUR Canada’s fourth season in 2016 was highlighted by record-breaking performances on the course, a milestone in charitable giving by tournaments, a continuation of alumni proving themselves on both the Web.com Tour and the PGA TOUR.

Competitive highlights included Dan McCarthy’s record-breaking season, marked by four victories, two of which were seven-stroke wins, and the new all-time record for single-season earnings. Past members of the Mackenzie Tour proved successful as well, with Tony Finau earning his first career PGA TOUR win and 14 players earning a spot in the Web.com Tour Finals, including six who went on to earn PGA TOUR cards. Among the six were three former Mackenzie Tour Order of Merit winners – Mackenzie Hughes (2013), Joel Dahman (2014) and J.J. Spaun (2015) – who earned their maiden PGA TOUR cards for the 2016-17 season.

BC’s du Toit Maintains Top Standing In Weekly Rankings

altPositive movements for six of the Top-10 in Canada, while the remaining four maintained their standings, including top-ranked Jared du Toit, who begins the new collegiate season at No. 26 in the world.

Lawren Rowe gained 440 spots in the world rankings to move into the Top-20 in Canada after finishing in a tie for 23rd at the California State Fair Amateur. The University of Victoria Vike is coming off a solid summer in which he posted a runner-up finish at the Canadian University/College Championship and a tie for ninth at the Canadian Men’s Amateur Championship. Fellow Canadian Patrick Murphy finished third at the same event, four strokes behind the winner.

Hugo Bernard Moves Up To No. 4 In Weekly Rankings

Hugo BernardHugo Bernard added to his impressive season, coming from behind to claim the Canadian Men’s Amateur Championship. The result saw the Team Canada National Amateur Squad member climb 104 spots in the world amateur rankings, moving up to No. 4 in Canada. He becomes the first Canadian to win the National Men’s Amateur title since Team Canada Young Pro Squad member Mackenzie Hughes won back-to-back championships in 2011-12. He is the first Quebec native to win the competition since Craig Matthew of Montréal accomplished the feat in 1998. Bernard previously claimed medallist honours at the 2016 NCAA Division II Championship before capturing this year’s Alexander of Tunis event. The win earned the Mont-St-Hilaire, Que., native an exemption into the 2017 RBC Canadian Open and the 2016 U.S. Amateur Championship.
