PGA of BC Recognizes Top 100 Golf Professionals Of 2016

Adam BlairRICHMOND, British Columbia (PGA of BC) — With a new season upon us, the PGA of British Columbia is pleased to recognize Adam Blair of Talking Rock Golf Resort as winner of the 2016 PGA of BC Professional Development Program (PDP) Order of Merit presented by Sunice & Bobby Jones. Blair capped off 2016 with a grand total of 124 points, the highest point total ever achieved in the four years of the program's existence. His accomplishment is a result of his widespread involvement in every aspect of the program, including tournaments, education, industry engrossment, and volunteerism.

Lindsay BernakevitchRICHMOND, British Columbia (PGA of BC) - Maintaining his first round lead, Lindsay Bernakevitch of Victoria Golf Club claimed the 2015 Cleveland Golf/Srixon Canada PGA of BC Club Professional Championship presented by Club Car Tuesday at Richmond Country Club.

Heading into Tuesday’s round with a two stroke lead over Host Professional Mark Strong and Murray Poje of Tsawwassen Springs Golf Course, at the turn, Bernakevitch’s lead fell to just one stroke over the pair.

“I just played steady,” Bernakevitch said post-round. “I knew that without a lot of wind today, someone could make a run. But I just tried to keep the ball in play and make greens, and if I made birdies then that was great.”

Bryn ParryOLIVER, British Columbia (PGA of BC) — In a down to the wire win, Bryn Parry hoisted the William Thompson trophy for a third time as he claimed the Champion title at the TaylorMade and adidas Golf PGA of BC Championship presented by Axis Insurance Managers.

The tournament, played over a smoky two days at Fairview Mountain Golf Club in Oliver, B.C., saw multiple players come within strokes of snagging first place however, Parry’s score of 8-under 136 for the tournament would put him atop the leaderboard in the end.

“I felt that when I hit really good shots, I got great rewards, and when I hit mediocre shots, there was a lot of work left,” said Parry in a post-round interview on Tuesday. ”The work turned into extra work because my putting speed was a little off. So, every time I made a mistake I had a six or seven footer left. But some of them went in... enough of them went in.&Rdquo;

It’s been eight years since John Gallacher first won the British Columbia Golf Senior Championship and that drought came to an end when he beat Doug Roxburgh by four strokes for his second senior’s title at Swan-e-Set Bay Resort.

“It’s a great feeling to win this again,” said Gallacher, who carded a final round (+2) 74 to finish at even par 216 for the tournament. “It’s great to be in contention and then to win it, it means I was consistent and it’s good to be consistent.”

The 29 year old Kings Links Professional fired an impressive round of 64 (-7) to beat a stellar field of 112 Pros and Amateurs on the always manicured Beach Grove Golf Club layout. His bogey-free round earned him a nice little payday of $1,200, and his first victory on the VGT for a few years.
