QUILCHENA, British Columbia (Brad Ziemer, British Columbia Golf) — The highly anticipated re-opening of Sagebrush is now scheduled for early June. The initial hope was to have the Merritt-area course open later this month, but general manager Scott Masse says a little more time is needed to get the facility ready. Sagebrush remained closed last year and was sold this past fall by its original owners to Newmark Group, a Langley-based residential construction company.

WHISTLER, British Columbia — With the warm spring weather, Fairmont Chateau Whistler, is moving up the opening date of its 2016 Golf Season. The Chateau Whistler Golf Course will open this coming Friday, April 29, marking one of the earliest openings in its history.
“The weather has been outstanding and the course is in excellent shape, especially for this early in the year,” said Nick Droulis, Director of Golf for Fairmont Chateau Whistler Golf Club. “We all are looking forward to one of our best golf seasons, and are eager to share the experience with our guests.”

RICHMOND, British Columbia — British Columbia Golf is proud to announce the election of Patrick Kelly as the association’s newest President. Kelly assumes the role from now immediate Past President David Atkinson, who has held the position since 2013.
Patrick, who operates a consulting business, is a member of the Leq:amel First Nation (Sto:lo Nation.) and was elected their Treaty Representative for treaty negotiations, a role he held from 1998 to 2001. He has had a number of high level positions including a five-year term as Advisor to the Lieutenant Governor of BC.

RICHMOND, British Columbia (Bryan Outram/British Columbia Golf) — British Columbia Golf has announced the addition of Matthew Steinbach to their staff as Manager, Golf Participation, effective immediately.
Steinbach will be responsible for managing current ‘grow the game’ initiatives within British Columbia Golf such as Future Links, Playground 2 Fairway (P2F), SOAR, Golf In Schools and SNAG and will also be working with the Allied Golf Association to promote all grow the game initiatives.
“It’s a pleasure to join the team and support British Columbia Golf as leaders in growing golf as a sport for life,”” Steinbach said.
