Dean Spriddle may feel fortunate to have won the PGA of Alberta Instructor Of The Year Award for a record fifth time in 2013 but luck had very little to do with it.
 
Dean Spriddle was born in England but grew up near the birthplace of golf, St. Andrews, Scotland.
 
His passion for the game started at an early age as Spriddle can distinctly remember making his first shot when he was only 2 ... Later he would go on to represent Scotland once in a match.

AGA’s New Executive Director Has Clear Path In Mind

Matt Rollins isn’t exactly the new kid on the block when it comes to the provincial governing body of amateur golf in Alberta, having spent over a decade with the Alberta Golf Association.
 
At the same time though, he is the new executive director and as such he took some time with Inside Golf to discuss the challenges his association, and the game, are facing and what the future holds.
 
Rollins, 33, spent time with the AGA in two other roles before assuming the lead job.

Twenty-five years is a long time to be doing anything but it seems it was the right number for Brent Ellenton, the executive director of Alberta Golf.

He is stepping down this year after coming into the organization as the executive director when the Alberta Golf Association was undergoing some dramatic growth in the late 80's along with the golf industry.

Jim Hope And Canyon Meadows Welcome The Champions Tour

With the help of Calgary's PGA Tour flag bearer, Stephen Ames, the Canyon Meadows Golf & Country Club is gearing up to host some of the great names in professional golf later this summer.
 
The Champions Tour will be making a regualr tour stop in cowtown for the next few years, beginning this August 26th - September 1st, thanks to some groundwork started by Ames and carried on by a number of other community leaders in the Calgary area.
 
Recently, Inside Golf chatted with the General Manager at Canyon Meadows, Jim Hope, and got some feedback from one of the central figures in the hosting of such a high profile event.

In a golf tournament it’s difficult to pinpoint the exact shot or hole where you went wrong when you miss the mark by one stroke after 108 holes.
 
For that reason, Ryan Yip wasn’t beating himself up over what happened to him at the 2011 edition of the PGA Tour’s Q-School.
