Four Shortlisted For Callaway Junior World Golf Championship
LETHBRIDGE, Alberta -- The Boston Pizza-presented Maple Leaf Junior Golf Tour's (MJT) two-day Albertan season opener on May 4-5, 2013 at Paradise Canyon Golf Club in Lethbridge was packed with an oversubscribed field of 113 competitors from Alberta, Saskatchewan and BC in the Golf Alberta-ranked tournament, and needed a playoff to decide the Overall Champion. Four players also qualified for age-specific shortlisted spots into the Callaway Junior World Golf Championship in San Diego, California this July, with the final winners to be announced once all MJT qualifiers across the country have completed.

In the “olden days” one had to go to a golf course, and into the pro shop to meet the golf professionals face to face. Nowadays however, the Alberta PGA is on the road to making that initial meet-and-greet a little easier by putting the pros’ faces out in the community to better interact with the general public.
Phil Berube, the executive director of the Alberta PGA, explained that a trial run with such an undertaking proved to be a huge success in Calgary last year and as such the association is looking forward to growing the game through more of the same this year.

That’s the word coming from an Albertan who made it to the final audition stage but was knocked out of play, he figures, by one of the two main things the network seeks in contestants/players for the show.
