DICK’S Sporting Goods Presents: A Sporting Life On CBS Sports

PONTE VEDRA BEACH, Florida — The PGA TOUR announced that an hour-long special titled PGA TOUR 2017: A Sporting Life presented by DICK’S Sporting Goodswill air on CBS Sports on August 20, 2017, at 2:00 pm ET, prior to the network’s final-round coverage of the Wyndham Championship.

Produced by PGA TOUR Entertainment, the show will document how youth sports helped to shape the future for current stars on the PGA TOUR. A Sporting Life presented by DICK’S Sporting Goods will detail that a foundation built through sports has a tangible lasting effect: it instills confidence, fosters teamwork, builds character, and serves as a motivating factor for children to achieve success.

The CBS Sports feature will cover the following topics:

Jason Day and J.R. Smith
Athletes from across the sporting landscape have been bitten by the golf bug, including NBA guard J.R. Smith, who recently caddied for 10-time PGA TOUR winner Jason Day during a practice round at the WGC-Bridgestone Invitational. We mic’d up this dynamic duo on the course as they talked golf, life and the similarities between their respective sports.

Branden Grace
Grace grew up in South Africa playing cricket, field hockey and rugby before choosing golf. The special will travel with him to his home country as he reflects on his journey to the PGA TOUR, and shows us where he fell in love with the game.

Xander Schauffele
The Greenbrier Classic champion comes from an athletic family. His grandfather played professional soccer in Europe and his father, Stefan, was an Olympic-caliber decathlete. His father has coached Xander since he was a teenager and instilled in him a unique approach to the game.

Steph Curry
While the 2-time NBA MVP is world-renowned for his skills and accomplishments on the basketball court, he’s also an avid golfer, who played in his first professional event in August at the Ellie Mae Classic at TPC Stonebrae on the Web.com Tour.

Bernhard Langer
At age 59, Bernhard Langer continues to dominate on PGA TOUR Champions. The 4-time Charles Schwab Cup winner is well positioned for another title run, and we join him to see how he prepares his body and game to maintain his standard of excellence.

Love of Sport
Prior to securing a PGA TOUR card, players often grew up competing in a variety of sports. We learn from the game’s elite like Rickie Fowler, Jordan Spieth and Jason Day how their love for athletics blossomed through the years and continues today.
