New Resources Added To Pace Of Play Manual

The R&A is continuing its efforts to provide guidance on improving pace of play and several new resources have been added to the Pace of Play Manual for golfers, administrators and golf course managers.
The Pace of Play manual helps to encourage the use of recommended solutions which effectively address issues of slow play and increase golfers’ enjoyment of playing the game.
Four new videos and supporting materials are now available on the topics of Ready Golf, Player Behaviour, Management Practices and Course Set-up in addition to existing information and guidance.

The Pace of Play manual and supporting resources can be used by affiliates, administrators and golf clubs in their own marketing and communications.
The R&A introduced Ready Golf during stroke play at its amateur championships for the first time in 2017 and encouraging progress has been made to improve awareness of pace of play among golfers and to reduce the time it takes complete a round of golf.
Competitors at events, including The Amateur Championship and Ladies British Open Amateur Championship, were advised on Pace of Play and shown a short clip on registration for these events. Banner signage around the clubhouse and course, including tee boards, also encouraged golfers to be aware of Pace of Play and use the recommendations of Ready Golf during stroke play.
Kevin Barker, Director – Golf Development at The R&A, said, “We have received a number of positive comments from golfers about the introduction of Ready Golf in our amateur events and it has been encouraging to see players adopting the recommended behaviours to improve pace of play.
“We believe that adopting the recommendations provided in the Pace of Play manual will lead to a more positive experience for players and spectators alike and we would encourage golfers, administrators and golf clubs to use the resources available to address issues of slow play.”
