PONTE VEDRA BEACH, Florida (PGA TOUR Champions) — The PGA TOUR and Rapiscan Systems, Inc. announced an agreement making the security screening provider the title sponsor of the longstanding PGA TOUR Champions event contested annually at Fallen Oak in Biloxi, Miss.

The newly-named Rapiscan Systems Classic will be held in March of 2018, with a three-year agreement in place through the 2020 season. Bruno Event Team will manage the event, with the MGRC Foundation continuing to serve as the tournament’s host organization, and tournament proceeds benefitting area charities.

“We are extremely pleased to welcome Rapiscan Systems to the PGA TOUR family as the new title sponsor of our event on the Mississippi Gulf Coast,” said PGA TOUR Champions President Greg McLaughlin. “Their commitment to excellence in the field of security meshes well with our desire to create a tremendous tournament product for the great golf fans in Southern Mississippi. We are excited for this partnership and look forward to building on the strength of the tournament’s existing foundation.”

Since 1993, Rapiscan Systems has been a proud and trusted partner of government agencies and private security operations around the world. The company owns and operates a manufacturing plant in nearby Ocean Springs, Miss.

An OSI Systems (NASDAQ: OSIS) company, Rapiscan Systems is the world’s leading security screening provider, with state-of-the-art products, solutions and services that meet demanding threat detection needs while improving operational efficiency. Rapiscan provided security screening services to the 2012 London Summer Olympic Games, the Glasgow 2014 Commonwealth Games in Scotland, and will be the provider for the Gold Coast 2018 Commonwealth Games in Australia.

The Rapiscan Systems Classic will be the third PGA TOUR-sanctioned event to be held annually in Mississippi, joining the PGA TOUR’s Sanderson Farms Championship and the Web.com Tour’s North Mississippi Classic. Mississippi is one of just five states to host an annual tournament on all three Tours, with California, Florida, Georgia and North Carolina being the other four.

“This tournament has been an exciting part of the Mississippi sports calendar since 2010, and we are elated to welcome Rapiscan Systems into our community as we look to expand the tournament footprint,” said MRGC Foundation Board of Directors Chairman, Frank Bertucci. “The Mississippi Gulf Coast benefits greatly from this event, and I know the passionate golf fans in the area will continue to support these tremendous legends of the game.”

Over the past eight years, the Rapiscan Systems Classic has been one of the most exciting stops on the PGA TOUR Champions schedule, producing champions such as Tom Lehman (2011), World Golf Hall of Fame member Fred Couples (2012), and Spain’s Miguel Angel Jimenez, who successfully defended his 2016 title in a playoff earlier this year over Gene Sauers.
