TORONTO, Ontario (MJT) — The Boston Pizza-sponsored Maple Leaf Junior Golf Tour (MJT), Canada’s number-one played Junior Golf Tour with over 70 events across the country from Whistler, BC, to Fox Harb'r, NS, is excited to announce that former Golf Canada Men's Head Coach, Henry Brunton, has partnered up with veteran MJT Tournament Director, Dave Smallwood, to add events in the Greater Toronto Area (GTA) to the MJT Ontario schedule.

A four-time national award recipient by the PGA, including 2016 National Teacher of the Year, Brunton served as the Canadian National Team Coach from the inception of the acclaimed program in 1999 until 2011. He has coached and developed four world junior champions, two NCAA Men’s DI champions, 16 NCAA All-Americans and a host of athletes who have graduated onto the Web.Com, PGA and LPGA Tours.

Brunton, the first Canadian listed among GOLF Magazine's Top 100 Teachers, will help augment the key Ontario team of PGA Professionals Dave Smallwood and Dylan Smallwood, by adding a series of Maple Leaf Junior Golf Tour events in a new region to the existing operation, for example at venues such as Eagles Nest Golf Club (Maple, ON), Tangle Creek Golf and Country Club (Thornton, ON), Ballantrae Golf Club (Stouffville, ON), and Linkridge Links Golf Club (Brooklin, ON), allowing for increased opportunities for juniors to compete in high-level events in the province.

“It is great news for junior golfers and for the MJT that a PGA of Canada Master Professional of the calibre of Henry Brunton has come on board to help Dylan and myself expand the program in this province,” said Smallwood. “We are thrilled to have his experience contribute to the quality of a program which I’ve been with for 11 years, and which is entering its 20th season nationally.”

When asked about his new role with the MJT, Brunton said, “I am pleased and honoured to join the MJT Family to provide aspiring junior golfers in the GTA with the best-in-class junior tournaments."

The MJT, which is currently offering an Early Bird Membership Special until January 31st, is Canada’s only national tour run exclusively by PGA of Canada Professionals and the only program to offer a College Golf Recruitment Program. The MJT aims to develop champions, in golf and in life, promoting the game from grassroots through to provincial, national, university and professional level. Registration for tournaments is also now available and the full MJT National schedule is posted on maplejt.com.
