CHARLOTTE, North Carolina — The 2021 Presidents Cup, a team match-play competition featuring 24 of the world’s top golfers — 12 from the United States and 12 from around the world, excluding Europe — has a new face to lead the continued efforts when the global biennial event returns to the United States. PGA TOUR officials announced Adam Sperling has been named Executive Director of the 2021 Presidents Cup.

Sperling, who spent the last three years as the Executive Director of the Shriners Hospitals for Children Open in Las Vegas as part of almost nine years with the organization, has been named Executive Director and will lead the Presidents Cup tournament team for the 2021 playing at Quail Hollow Club in Charlotte, North Carolina. Sperling will focus on the 2021 even while current Executive Director, Matt Kamienski, will continue to focus on the 2019 Presidents Cup to be held at Royal Melbourne Golf Club, in Melbourne, Australia.

A graduate of Ithaca College, Sperling has been working in the golf industry since 2006 having previously worked for both the Championship Management division of the PGA TOUR and the AT&T Pebble Beach National Pro-Am. Sperling brings over 15 years of experience to the 2021 Presidents Cup tournament team.

“The Presidents Cup represents all of the positive values in golf as a global convergence of thrilling competition, charity, sportsmanship and international goodwill,” Sperling said. “Charlotte has embraced professional golf and the PGA TOUR with Quail Hollow quickly becoming a must-play venue each and every year. I am thrilled to play a role in bringing this prestigious event to North Carolina to share in its global reach, its history of modern day great players, the unmatched fan experience and the Presidents Cup’s charitable nature. I look forward to ingraining myself in the community and learning even more about what makes Charlotte such a fantastic host for the 2021 Presidents Cup.”

Quail Hollow Club is the host site for the 2021 Presidents Cup bringing the international team match-play event into the Southeastern United States for the first time in what will be its 27-year history in 2021. Quail Hollow Club will be the fifth golf course in the United States to host the prestigious team match-play competition, joining Robert Trent Jones Golf Club in Prince William County, Virginia (1994, 1996, 2000, 2005); TPC Harding Park in San Francisco, California (2009, 2025); Muirfield Village Golf Club in Dublin, Ohio (2013); and Liberty National Golf Club, Jersey City, New Jersey (2017).

The Presidents Cup is held every two years and since 1996 has alternated between venues in the United States and around the world. The 2019 Presidents Cup will be held at Royal Melbourne Golf Club in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia, December 9-15.
