Jon Rahm’s Epic One-Hop Ace

Low rounds have been the norm over the past two days at the WGC-Mexico Championship’s Club de Golf Chapultepec. Rory McIlroy led the field by two shots after an opening 65, and Erik van Rooyen lit up the course with nine birdies en route to a second-round 62.

But Jon Rahm topped even that sizzling score, carding nine birdies and an epic ace (on his 17th hole, no less) to sign for a round of 10-under-par 61 — a milestone round for several reasons.

For starters, Rahm is now the course-record holder at Chapultepec, meaning his round is also the lowest round that’s ever been shot at the WGC-Mexico Championship. And to top it off, the 61 is the new lowest round of Rahm’s PGA Tour career (though he’s managed a round of 62 three different times.)
