AGA-BC Pulls Together Resources To Assist Golf Industry Employees And Operators During COVID-19

Compiled by iG Editors

The Allied Golf Association of BC has compiled a timely library of information and resources intended for the entire industry...

Ranging from links to government sites to best practices, the underlying theme that runs throughout is safety and security. From a link to the COVID-19 Self Assessment tool to the Guide for Workers amidst COVID-19, all bases are being covered.

Aside from safety and security, they have also included financially oriented information for both employees and facility operators.

All this is in keeping with AGA-BC's mission: To provide leadership, collaborative advocacy and a cooperative resource for the British Columbia golf industry.

In a recent email, AGA-BC President Trevor Smith commented on the expanded role of the association during this time, "We are here to support you and your business during these most difficult times.  We will maintain our resources page on a daily basis, communicate information as it becomes available, continue to feed information through to government, and are currently working on developing best practices for our British Columbia golf operators in this ever-changing environment.  If we can be of assistance to you with sourcing information or answering any questions, please do not hesitate to contact us."

There is also a similar initiative under the umbrella of NAGA (National Allied Golf Associations). Their "We Are Golf" program has historically been a Canada-wide campaign aimed at increasing awareness of golf as a key driver of our economy, a steward of our environment, and a vital way in which millions of Canadians stay fit and healthy every year. Now, it has taken on a similar role to the one AGA-BC has adopted focussing on the same safety/security concerns but with a national scope.  They are also communicating to all levels of government "... the essential need for golf course property maintenance during any of the temporary closures to be ready for operation while taking every health and safety precaution."

The complete list of BC links is available on www.AGA-BC.org and will be updated as new programs are introduced and new information becomes available.
