 Opening Day Golf Sells Out Fast at Victoria’s Newest Course
Victoria’s new choice for golfers offers an affordable and flexible game of golf, but to play Highland Pacific’s front nine on opening day, only the early birds get the worm.Ten years ago, members of the Plasterer family came together to pursue family patriarch Herb Plasterer’s dream of giving Victoria a quality public golf course. Over the past ten years, golfers have been asking the Plasterers when the course will be completed, and over a thousand people signed up to be notified of the front nine launch. Last week these eager golfers received advance notice of opening day on Saturday, October 25, and within a day, all 144 spots for opening day play were filled.  Highland Pacific Is Now Officially Open At 3,175 yards from the back tees, the “Pacific Nine” offers an exciting and challenging test for all skill levels, and golfers will be impressed by pristine rolling fairways, fast greens and varied elevations. Located just off the highway between Victoria General Hospital and Thetis Lake, Highland Pacific is an accessible and affordable new option for golfers in Victoria. The back nine, the “Highland Nine”, is scheduled for completion in summer of 2009 for 6,451 in total course yardage, with par slated at 71. Opening day ceremonies begin on Saturday, October 25 with a ribbon cutting ceremony at 9:00 am on the first tee, followed by a 10:00 am shotgun start to officially begin play on the Pacific Nine. Prizes such as a “hole-in-one” Subaru, free golf for a year and golf clubs will be up for the taking.
