Rob Barr Named Superintendent at Fairmont Jasper Park Lodge

JASPER, Alberta — Rob Barr was recently named golf course superintendent for Fairmont Golf’s Jasper Park Lodge Golf Club. Effective March 5, Barr will be in charge of all phases of golf course maintenance and agronomic operations, cost control and personnel.
“We are proud to have Rob join our team and take over as the new Superintendent in our 94 year history. He’s a great fit for Jasper Park in many ways,” said Gregg Lown, Director of Golf at Fairmont Jasper Park Lodge. “He has gained valuable experience at one of the best golf facilities in Canada in both the leisure and competitive golf arenas. Our renowned golf course and unique natural setting surrounding it will be in good hands with Rob as the steward of this Canadian national treasure.”
Barr joins the family at Fairmont Jasper Park Lodge after relocating from Vancouver, BC where he worked at the prestigious Shaughnessy Golf and Country Club as golf course superintendent. He brings with him a wealth of knowledge and experience within the field, including working with Golf Canada and the PGA Tour to prepare for the 2003 Canadian Amateur, 2005 Bell Canadian Open and the 2011 RBC Canadian Open.
Barr graduated with a diploma in Horticulture and Turf Management from the University of Guelph, in addition to certification in Park Maintenance, Landscape Maintenance, Tree Management and Environmental Management.
