Taylormade releases new TP5 Pix to make the ball more visible to golfers
Now, more than ever, golfers are opening their minds about colored golf balls.
For a long time now, golf balls have been different colors like orange and yellow since the 80s'.
While most golfers choose a non-white option because its easier to see in flight or nestled in a thick patch of rough, TaylorMade partnered with Indiana University — who also worked with the company on Spider X — to see if there was a better way to produce visual technology on the golf ball.
Taylormade chose dark red and yellow colors for its pattern.
It's all about how the human eye processes light.
Lighter colors can be processed more efficiently.
In other words, the pattern makes it easier to pick up on the ball regardless of the time of day.
The X shape design took over a year and a half to design and develop.
TaylorMade’s TP5 Pix will be available March 22 for $45 USD per dozen.
Pix is not currently offered in TP5x.
