MEN’S TOP 10

It was a down week for every member of the Top-10.

Adam Hadwin slipped out of the top 50 in the world, falling four spots after finishing in a tie for 60th at the U.S. Open. It was his third career appearance at the major and his second points-paying result, collecting 1.50 world ranking points. The Abbotsford, B.C. golfer slipped behind Brendan Steele, J.B. Holmes and Charley Hoffman – who all posted top 15 results at Erin Hills.

Corey Conners, the only other Canadian to have qualified for the U.S. Open, missed the cut in his first appearance at the major.

Other notable results: No. 6 Roger Sloan missed the cut at the Web.com Tour Air Capital Classic; No. 7 Austin Connelly missed the cut at European Challenger Tour Hauts de France Golf Open; No. 10 Adam Svensson finished tied for 77th at the Web.com Tour Air Capital Classic;

WOMEN’S TOP 10

Brooke Henderson celebrated her fourth career LPGA title, claiming the Meijer LPGA Classic. That puts her in a tie with Lorie Kane for second place in wins by a Canadian on the Tour and just four back of Hall of Famer Sandra Post. The victory enabled the 19-year-old to climb two places in the world rankings, up to No. 13 in the world.

Brogan McKinnon joins the Canadian rankings, slotting in at the No. 16th spot. She posted her best finish to date on the Symetra Tour, finishing in a tie for 17th at the event in Illinois.

Other Notable Results: No. 2 Alena Sharp finished tied for 43rd at Meijer LPGA Classic; No. 5 Augusta James and No. 9 Jennifer Ha missed the cut at Meijer LPGA Classic; No. 3 Maude-Aimee Leblanc withdrew from the Meijer LPGA Classic; No. 6 Samantha Richdale finished in a tie for 46th at Symetra Tour event in Illinois; No. 7 Brittany Marchand missed the cut at Symetra Tour event in Illinois;

MEN’S AMATEUR TOP 10

Chris Crisologo made the biggest gain among the Top-10, picking up 49 spots after his runner-up finish at the prestigious Glencoe Invitational. The B.C. golfer finished one stroke back after missing a par putt on the final hole which would have forced a playoff.

Josh Whalen makes the second biggest move of the week among the Top-10, picking up 29 spots in the world rankings, after finishing in a tie for 6th at the Sunnehanna Amateur. The result saw Whalen move up to No. 3 in Canada.

Garrett Rank, who assumed the No. 1 ranking last week after Jared du Toit turned pro, makes a 16 place gain and moves into the top 100 in the world, settling in at No. 86.

Matt Williams climbs 32 spots to move into the Top 10 for the first time after finishing in a tie for 7th at the Glencoe Invitational.

Outside the Top-10, two players make their debut appearance inside the top-20. Dylan Macqueen gained 206 spots in the world rankings to move up to No. 15 in the Canadian rankings after finishing in a tie for 27th at the Southeastern Amateur.

Emmett Oh makes his first appearance in the top 20, picking up 108 spots to take over No. 19 in the Canadian rankings. The Calgary native finished third at the Glencoe Invitational, having to play the tournament with replacement clubs after his were stolen when his car was taken ahead of the tournament.

Biggest move: Thomas Allkins gained 591 spots in the world rankings after finishing in a tie for 16th at the AJGA Haas Family Invitational.

WOMEN’S AMATEUR TOP 10

Maddie Szeryk solidified her standing as Canada’s top amateur with a win at the Women’s Western National Amateur Championship. The Golf Canada National Squad member scored a 3&1 win over American Dylan Kim in the 36 hole final to become the first Canadian to win the event. Szeryk picked up two places in the world rankings to move up to No. 31 overall.

Naomi Ko made it all the way to the Round of 16 at the event before running into Szeryk, who disposed of her Golf Canada National Team member 2&1.

Jaclyn Lee picks up five places to climb to No. 4 in Canadian rankings. She lost in the first round of match play at the Western National, falling in 23 holes. Lee, along with fellow Golf Canada National Squad members Szeryk, Naomi Ko and Grace St-Germain captured the Maschmeyer Cup for the best team score.

St-Germain picked up six spots in the world rankings after reaching the Round of 32 at the Western National.

Monet Chun makes her Top-10 debut, taking over the No. 10 slot from Sabrine Garrison. The Golf Canada National Development Squad member finished tied for 17th in stroke play before losing in 19 holes in the opening round of match play at the Western National.

Biggest Move: Euna Han gained 416 spots in the world rankings after finishing in a tie for 22nd at the Rolex Girls Junior Championship. The Coquitlam, B.C. golfer – who had a hole in one on the par 3 ninth hole at the Biltmore Forest Country Club in North Carolina in the first round – takes over the No. 20 spot in the Canadian rankings.
