Historic Hole-in-One Wins New Ford at MJT’s RedTail Landing Stop

By THE MAPLE LEAF JUNIOR GOLF TOUR

NISKU, Alberta – A historic event for junior golf in the country occurred at the MJT Ford Series at RedTail Landing Golf. Junior golfers were competing for titles in seven divisions as well as in a hole-in-one contest on the eighth hole to win a new 2019 Ford EcoSport sponsored by Nisku Ford. These incredible odds were unbelievably overcome on a cold, windy and wet day by a 14-year-old from Fort Saskatchewan, AB.

Ethan Howes, playing in the MJT Bantam Boys division, stepped up onto the par-three eighth hole, scoped back to 161 yards, and hit the shot of his life, acing the hole and becoming the first MJT player to win this contest in the four years since inception, and the first junior known to do so in Canadian golf history. His playing partners were amazed to witness the ball go straight into the hole, and much excitement ensued around the course and clubhouse. “I’m still trying to wrap my head around it,” said Howes, who finished the tournament in third place with scores of 76 and 75 (151). “I certainly know how my mom will feel about it!” With Howes’ brilliant shot, his family get to drive home a brand new 2019 Ford EcoSport from Nisku Ford.
