Ontario Municipal Governments Come Down Hard On Rule Breaking Golfers

While other parts of the country may be allowing play, the situation is much different in hard-hit Ontario.

GlobalTV in Hamilton, Ontario reported that police laid charges to three people for golfing on a closed municipal course. If convicted, they will be facing $750 fines. In the article, Hamilton’s director of emergency operations, Paul Johnson said, “this is not a joke and... (and) we’re pretty close to zero tolerance.”

Elsewhere in the province, the City of Brampton has enacted physical distancing bylaws that carry a fine up to $100,000 that would also apply on city golf courses.
