DAYTONA BEACH, Florida — Calling all female golfers! Whether you are a fanatical player, someone who is considering taking up the game for the first time or simply interested in using golf as a tool for self-improvement in other areas, then the soon-to-be-launched LPGA Women's Network is for you!
Having identified a pressing need for the establishment of a digital platform of this type, the Ladies Professional Golf Association will be 'going live' online with the Women's Network on Monday, August 14 - just a few days before the showpiece Solheim Cup, the prestigious biennial contest between Europe and the United States, takes place in West Des Moines, Iowa.
The timing is perfect. The Solheim Cup is arguably the biggest, and certainly the most passionate and talked about, event in women's golf. The Women's Network aims to be the biggest and most passionate online forum for female golfers, with the goal to get to half a million women engaged with its content and conversations by 2020.
The Women's Network will give its subscribers the opportunity to receive golf tips and instruction from LPGA Teachers; to engage with the LPGA and its players through an interactive blog and video series; and to connect with each other.
"The LPGA Women’s Network is designed to help nurture women’s interest in the game of golf,” Ashleigh McLaughlin, Manager of Digital Marketing and Brand Strategy for the Women’s Network, told LPGA.com about the new venture. “LPGAWomensNetwork.com will start as a blog and will quickly grow into an online community that celebrates the growth and connections women can find through golf.”
Visitors to the site will find content that piques their interest in subjects surrounding the game of golf including instruction, fashion, career and networking advice, and inspiration to improve their lives. But most importantly, McLaughlin notes, “The Women’s Network is a place to connect with other women who are taking the same journey in learning and enjoying the game of golf."
McLaughlin has already assembled an impressive array of writers who will be contributing blogs for the Women's Network, including notable LPGA players who will share personal stories from their lives outside the ropes.
"LPGA fans who want a unique glimpse into their favorite players’ lives will find exactly that through the Women’s Network,” said McLaughlin. “Players write and share their opinions and personal stories in their own words, giving readers an unfiltered look at the world from an LPGA player’s point of view.”
European Solheim Cup captain Annika Sorenstam and Nancy Lopez, who is one of three assistants this year for the United States, have each written about their respective team's preparations for the biennial team competition while Cheyenne Woods has created a photo diary capturing her week at the U.S. Women's Open.
Several other topics and themes will be addressed by the LPGA Women's Network including stories of inspiration, issues relating to the golf industry’s approach to attracting and retaining women in the game, and advice for women who want to use golf as a tool for advancing their careers.
The LPGA Women’s Network will feature articles and op-ed pieces from some of the leading thought-leaders and tastemakers in the world of golf for women. Among them Susan Fornoff, the founder of GottaGoGolf, Anya Alvarez, a former LPGA and Symetra Tour player turned journalist, and Abbey Algiers, a writer who uncovers the deeper life lessons that can be learned from the game. They will each help to showcase what's available for women who do want to pick up the game.
Those who join the free LPGA Women’s Network community will get access to more than just its compelling content, but will also unlock the site’s hidden Member Perks page, a unique benefit for subscribers offering exclusive discounts from brands like Adidas Golf, LPGA Travel, Greg Norman Collection, and more. Nearly 20 companies will provide unique offers for Women’s Network members to help support them in their journey with the game of golf.
The site is expected to continue its growth and expansion of resources for women to learn and connect, including interactive discussion forums and regional calendars for women to find female-friendly golf events and organizations across the country.
