ACTON, Ontario — The PGA of Canada is pleased to announce a renewed and enhanced national partnership with Golf Avenue, the Quebec-based global retail trade-in giant.
As part of the agreement, Golf Avenue becomes the newest supporting partner of the popular RBC PGA Scramble and will work with the PGA of Canada to provide golfers the chance to win two full-team entries into a local qualifier for the event this summer.
“Golf Avenue has been a great partner of the Association and many PGA Professionals across the country for a number of years, so taking this next step with them is something we are really excited about,” said PGA of Canada President Teejay Alderdice.
In addition, PGA of Canada Professionals will get continued use of Golf Avenue’s leading trade-in services to manage their inventories and help golfers purchase new equipment from their local pro shop. There are also plans for an additional joint program that will see a portion of trade-in equipment sales go towards supporting junior golfers in Canada through the PGA of Canada Foundation.
“We are all really excited to take this partnership to the next level,” said Pierre-Luc Laparé, CEO & Co-Founder of Golf Avenue. “Golf Avenue tries to make golf as affordable as possible by helping golfers buy and sell old equipment. We also hope to continue playing a leadership role in the development of new junior players by helping them have affordable access to the game alongside a great partner like the PGA of Canada.”
Golf Avenue was founded in 2006 by Laparé and Marc-Antoine Bovet, then college students and avid golfers. From its modest beginnings as an eBay retailer, Golf Avenue now plays an important role through its many different platforms around the world. Stocked with more than 50,000 golf clubs at all times, Golf Avenue works hard at making the game of golf more accessible to everyone who wants to play.
The RBC PGA Scramble is Canada’s largest series of national golf events designed for amateurs of all playing abilities and PGA of Canada professionals looking to participate in a fun and equitable competition.
Now in its fifth year, more than 11,000 golfers are anticipated to play in roughly 150 local qualifying events nationwide, with hopes of advancing from the local to the regional stage, and ultimately on to the National Final.
In 2019, the RBC PGA Scramble was named the “Best New Canadian Golf Event of the Decade” by Rick Young of SCOREGolf.
