Maple Leaf Junior Golf Tour’s Popular MJT Mini Tour Comes To The Maritimes

Avon Valley Golf & Country Club

HALIFAX, Nova Scotia — Canada’s number-one played Junior Golf Tour, the Maple Leaf Junior Golf Tour, is bringing the popular MJT Mini Tour for the younger age group of 12U boys and girls to Nova Scotia and New Brunswick to provide an introduction to tournament golf.

The non-profit Maple Leaf Junior Golf Tour, which currently offers multi-day tournaments for competitive players aged 19U in the region, launched the MJT Mini Tour in select provinces in 2014 to meet demand for age-appropriate competition with shorter yardages, and has seen increasing participation in British Columbia, Alberta, Saskatchewan and Ontario. The program will now also be offered in Manitoba and the Maritimes.

The aspiring young golfers compete over 18 holes in six age divisions: Boys and Girls ages 7-8, 9-10 and 11-12. Caddies are allowed, entry fees are $75 per tournament with a one-time registration fee of $69, and cover green fees on quality golf courses, organization by PGA of Canada Professionals, a great tee gift, awards for the top three finishers in each of the six age divisions, draw prizes and a snack courtesy of Clif bar.

First on the 2021 schedule is the MJT Mini Tour at Avon Valley Golf & Country Club, Falmouth, NS, on July 19, followed by the MJT Mini Tour at Royal Oaks Golf & Estates, Moncton, NB on July 27. The circuit concludes with the MJT Mini Tour at Kingswood Resort, Fredericton, NB, on August 30. There is also the opportunity for players to qualify for the multi-day MJT Mini Tour National Championship at Tsawwassen Springs in Tsawwassen, British Columbia, which runs August 19 and 20.

The MJT Mini Tour expands the opportunity for younger players to become tournament-ready and registration is now open.  For more information and schedule details please visit www.maplejt.com.
