PGA of BC Releases 2022 Championship Schedule

RICHMOND, BC (PGA of British Columbia) – The PGA of BC will hold all eight of the traditional championship events in three of the Association’s geographical regions in 2022, allowing its membership several opportunities to compete against their peers throughout the season.  

Following a delay to the 2021 tournament calendar due to health & safety protocols, the 2022 season is set to return to a traditional timeline. The Jack McLaughlin Memorial Pro-Junior Championship will also return after a two-year hiatus.

The Tournament of Champions, hosted by Nanaimo Golf Club, will kick off this year’s championship events providing Club Professionals a chance to play alongside an elite amateur competitor from their facility of affiliation.

The Vancouver Island & Lower Mainland Regions will play host to three events respectively, while the Interior Region will be hosting two championships.

Tournament of Champions presented by PING Canada
May 30 – Nanaimo Golf Club
Format: Two-person teams (Club Professional & Amateur designate); 18 holes best-ball
2021 Champions: Dave Zibrik & Jeff Dagg (Point Grey Golf & Country Club)

Assistants’ & Seniors’ Championship presented by Arbor Memorial
June 13-14 – Sandpiper Golf Course
Format: 36 holes individual stroke play
2021 Assistants' Champion: Conner Kozak (The Okanagan Golf Club)
2021 Seniors' Champion: Rob Anderson (Kelowna Golf & Country Club)

G&G Brands and Callaway Golf Pro-Assistant Championship
July 4-5 – Crown Isle Resort & Golf Community
Format: Two-person teams; 18 holes best-ball, 18 holes scramble
2021 Champions: James Presnail & Mark Kitts (Shadow Ridge Golf Club)

Jack McLaughlin Memorial Pro-Junior Championship presented by Cobra Puma Golf
July 22 – Shuswap Lake Golf Course at Blind Bay
Format: Four-person teams (one Golf Professional & three juniors), 18 holes two-net best-ball
2021 Champions: Not Contested

PGA of BC Championship
August 22-23 – Pitt Meadows Golf Club
Format: 36 holes individual stroke play
2021 Champion: Jake Scarrow (Gorge Vale Golf Club)

Srixon/Cleveland Golf Club Professional Championship presented by Oakcreek Golf & Turf LP and Nike Golf
September 19-20 – Fairview Mountain Golf Club
Format: 36 holes individual stroke play
2021 Champion: Padraic O'Rourke (The Fairmont Chateau Whistler Golf Club)

PGA of BC Women’s Championship
September 27-28 – Victoria Golf Club
Format: 36 holes individual stableford play
2021 Champion: Kat Kennedy (Point Grey Golf & Country Club)

Prospective championship participants are advised that all championships will be observing best practices to keep all involved safe from a public-health perspective and observing all relevant guidelines set forth by local and provincial health authorities.

Registration for all events will open on Friday April 1 at 9 a.m. PST. Please be advised that spaces in each field are limited and awarded on a first-come, first-served basis for those meeting all eligibility criteria. Those who do not meet all eligibility criteria are welcome to register but may be moved to a priority-order waiting list should the field reach capacity with fully eligible players. Member eligibility may be determined at the discretion and interpretation of the PGA of BC Captain’s Committee.  

Please also be advised that the PGA of BC will implement changes to tournament registration policies as it relates to fee structures, withdrawals, and cancellations. All such changes will be available for review in the 2022 PGA of BC Tournament Manual at the time of registration opening.
