If you, like just about every other golfer, wished you had your golf course to run in the way you see fit, your chance to do just that is about to come up. Of course, you’ll have to be the top bidder to achieve your dream. An 18-hole course, situated just south of Regina, SK, and close to where the popular Canadian TV comedy Corner Gas was shot, is about to hit the auction block.
The golf course, known as the Long Creek Golf & Country Club, totals just over 180 acres of land but in all, there are around 370 acres of land in this deal. The property is located in the Avonlea community. The sale will include everything one needs to run such a facility, including a relatively new clubhouse that measures almost 11,000 square feet with two levels and has a bar, a commercial kitchen, and decks, is wheelchair accessible via an elevator to the second floor, and has washrooms on each level. There is also space for a pro shop and space to park over 50 golf carts although those vehicles along with some maintenance equipment will be sold separately. The facility has water, gas, and sewer systems in addition to other outbuildings.
If so desired by the new owner(s), there is room for residential or campground development and to top things off, enough extra land is included in the deal to build another 9-hole loop if you wish.
As to the primary course, the auction listing notes the first nine holes here were opened in 1987 and the second in 1991. The on-site creek offers water for the irrigation system that is in place.
How much this costs is up to you and, of course, other bidders. The auction registration is free and a refundable bid deposit may be required. Everything up for auction is unreserved in price and the highest bidder walks away with the chance to win their golf course and to run it however they see fit. The auction itself takes place on December 12, 2024.
The last Western Canada golf course to be auctioned off was the Wolf Creek Golf Resort, located in Ponoka, AB. It was sold to a golf conglomerate out of Ontario.
