While the golf season is coming to a close all across Alberta, several young players on the huge MJT Tour showed their skill and prowess in season-ending events. Following are the youngsters who walked away with titles and runner-up finishes in several year-end events.

In the 12U Canadian Mini Tour Nationals held in August in Tsawwassen Springs GC in B.C., Sedona Weitz, 12, of Foothills M.D. shot a closing round 66 to take home top honours. In the boys division for the same age group, Judah Hornstein of Calgary placed third.

Not to be outdone, Blake Widmer of Edmonton fired back-to-back rounds of 68-67 to capture the title in the eight-year-old grouping, the youngest on the schedule.

In the first-ever MJT National Tour Challenge, Calgarian Olivia Johnson, 16, showed her ability in winning the Girls 15-19 group Low Overall title with rounds of 77-76-91 at the Sawmill Golf Course in Fenwick, ON, in September.

Finishing second in the Junior Boys event was Kole Myhra, 17, also from Calgary, who posted scores of 73-76-76. In the Juvenile division, Chase Strang, 15, from Airdrie placed second with a three round total of 218.

While he may not have walked away with any hardware, MJT player Sam Cook from Calgary was one of only four Canadian players chosen to represent the MJT Tour and his country in the 2025 Sergio Garcia Junior Championship, held in early October, at Mediterranean GC in Borriol, Castellon, Spain. He had rounds of 86-84-76 for the event.

The non-profit Maple Leaf Junior Golf Tour is Canada’s number one junior golf tour as well as the only national junior tour run exclusively by PGA of Canada professionals.
