Junior Golfers from Hokkaido Set to Compete on Albertan Turf

CALGARY, Alberta — As part of an International Sport Exchange, eight junior athletes from Hokkaido, Japan will visit Alberta from September 15th to 21st to golf and experience Canadian culture. Selected junior athletes from Alberta will play against the Japanese in a friendly competition. The aim of the International Sport Exchange is to foster sport development, friendship and potential economic development between Alberta and selected areas in Asia. Through sport exchanges with our sister provinces, Alberta has established strong relationships with Hokkaido, Japan and Gangwon, Korea.

Japan’s athletes include four males (Kodai Sato, Hibiki Ichiyama, Shin Sasamura and Noriyuki Kataoka) and four females (Yu Sakurada, Reina Minobe, Marina Ito, Sayaka Shimura). Various junior players from the Alberta Junior Development Team will be taking place in the events, including Kai Iguchi, Sharmaine Rapisura, Alexander Smith and Annabelle Ackroyd.
