VANCOUVER, British Columbia — Local young golfers will have plenty of opportunities to learn the game and develop their competitive skills on a full schedule of tournaments on the 2018 Grizzly Golf Tour [GGT].
The GGT Cub Division for boys and girls aged 5 to 15 has a full complement of 30 tournaments, and the Junior Division for girls and boys aged 12 to 18 features 20 tournaments this year. These tournaments are posted on the GGT website www.grizzlygolftour.com.
"We have built a strong schedule on good golf courses that will allow local juniors a regular competitive platform to develop their game and take it to the next level," said GGT Tournament Director Brad Ewart. And young golfers who are new-to-the-game now have a chance to learn the rules and etiquette of golf while making friends for a lifetime."
The Cub Division events will be staged on par three, executive, and full-length courses. The Cubs will play from tees and to course yardages that correspond to their age.
Par-three courses on the GGT schedule include: Kensington Park, Central Park, Queen Elizabeth Park, Rupert Park, Langley Golf Centre, Eaglequest Coquitlam, and Mylora GC. Executive and full-length courses include: Mission GC, Greenacres GC, Fort Langley GC, and Musqueam GC.
The Junior Division events will be played on top local facilities including Northview G&CC, University GC, Pagoda Ridge GC, Hazelmere G&TC, Swan-e-Set Bay Resort & CC, Pitt Meadows GC, Burnaby Mountain GC, Riverway GC, and Mission GC.
"For many years southwest BC has been the development grounds for some of the best players in the country. Almost every one of these golfers started playing golf tournaments with the late Harry White and the Junior Linkster tour, said GGT's Ewart. "Unfortunately, Harry passed on earlier this year but his vision of young kids learning the game lives on with the GGT."
