BEAUMONT, California (Symetra Tour) — As the Symetra Tour gears up for the 3rd annual IOA Championship presented by Morongo Casino Resort & Spa from April 6-8, a new official sponsor for the tournament — Proactive Health Labs — has joined the team.
Founded by healthcare attorney Joy Stephenson-Laws in 2014, Proactive Health Labs is a public non-profit organization with a mission to raise awareness on the critical role nutrition plays in keeping individuals physically and mentally healthy.
“Nutritional testing is currently under the radar, but can play a big role in how this country controls chronic disease,” said Stephenson-Laws, the President of Proactive Health Labs. “That’s why Proactive Health Labs advocates the use of nutritional testing as a new approach to recover from or prevent diseases.”
Their operation has two simple parts. First, Proactive Health Labs provide credible and easy to understand health information online. The other component is that they promote the importance of nutrient screening in the fight against diseases.
Located in Southern California, Proactive Health Labs services are available nationwide through their health advocate program.
“Maintaining an active lifestyle is the growing trend and there are many platforms to help aid with this,” said Mike Nichols, the Chief Business Officer for the Symetra Tour. “By partnering with Proactive Health Labs, the future stars of the LPGA Tour, as well as fans of the sport, will have the opportunity to learn more about what it takes to stay fit, utilizing state of the art screening.”
Funds raised through the IOA Championship will provide a minimum donation of $10,000 to Proactive Health Labs as the key benefactor of the event. The money will be used to provide health education programs, stay on top of the latest in preventative research and make nutrient screening more widely available.
Currently, over 80 percent of Americans are nutritionally deficient, meaning they do not consume enough of the critical nutrients (vitamins and minerals) they need to stay healthy. This can significantly increase risks for several chronic diseases including cancer and diabetes.
“It’s very important. That’s what keeps you having the energy to go through, especially the last few holes,” said Krystal Quihuis (Tucson, Arizona), a 2018 Symetra Tour rookie. “If you don’t have the proper nutrition you can easily get, I call it a ‘fall.’ I start off with a banana. It has a lot of potassium so that helps me keep going.”
With the belief that prevention is better than a cure, Proactive Health Labs aims to reach consumers that share their sentiment with hope of creating the proactive healthcare consumer who is educated, empowered and healthy.
