First Masters Program from 1934 to be Auctioned

A commemorative program from the first Masters in 1934 at the Augusta National Golf Club will be auctioned by Robert Edward Auctions

LOS ANGELES, March 18, 2019 – Bidding runs from March 6-24. Interested bidders may participate in the auction online.

The 44-page program (8.5 x 11 inches) includes diagrams of each hole, photos of the grounds, and photos of prominent Club members, including Bobby Jones.

The program being auctioned is unusual as it includes a page listing the tournament results, a feature which is seen in only one-third of the 1934 Masters programs that have survived.

Robert Edward auction owner Brian Dwyer said, “For golf collectors, this is an important program and a requisite for any advanced collection. While it is not known for certain how many 1934 Masters programs exist, the number is certainly low, and they seldom appear at public auction.”

The program is estimated to sell for over $10,000.

Bobby Jones 1929 and 1930 U.S. Open Programs Also going under the hammer are the 1929 and 1930 U.S. Open programs; Bobby Jones won the U.S. Open both years.

Jones went on to capture the Grand Slam in 1930, by winning all four majors in the same calendar year.
