Austin, Texas hosting WGC Match Play this week with subtle rule changes to remember...
With April coming in quick, the PGA Tour hosts the WGC Match Play in Texas with the Masters looming.
Rule changes have been a huge part of the PGA Tour this season.
Almost weekly the tour has had to deal with rule change infractions making tour players scared to even drop a ball these days.
As we all know, Match Play is a different playing ground compared to Stroke Play. Here are some rule change highlights to Match Play;
- The word "halve" is now changed to "tying." This was driven by the rules committee to apply more commonly used language.
- The Match "score" is now the terminology instead of "status."
- The penalty has been eliminated for accidentally moving opponents ball or ball-marker on the green.
- No penalty when a moving ball strikes an opponent or opponents equipment but the ball must be played where it lies, except on putting greens where the shot needs to be replayed.
- No longer is there a penalty for stopping an opponent’s ball in motion as long as there is no reasonable chance the moving ball could go in the hole.
Bubba Watson will defend his title this week with many top players including Rory, DJ, Molinari all playing well leading into April.
Coverage starts Wednesday!
