Breaking: Corey Conners Wins Texas Open, Earns Final Masters Spot

Corey Conners grabs the 87th spot in the Masters field...

There are many ways to get into the Masters field but Corey Conners did it late in stunning fashion.

Conners started the push up the leaderboard on Saturday shooting a blazing front nine 31 and finished off the day with a 66 to end the day one shot back of Si Woo Kim.

Unlike Saturday, Conners front nine on Sunday ended with four straight costly bogeys.

Conners stayed focused and kept his game on cruise on the back nine starting with three straight birdies with 6 in total to finish off the championship with a back nine 30 matching his third round score of 66.

On Monday, Conners wasn't even in the tournament due to conditional status on tour.

His Monday Qualifying stats this year are excellent now going 2 for 3 and coming out of a 6 man playoff for a spot in the Valero Texas Open.

He sat 66th in the Fed Ex Cup rankings this year and has now moved 53 spots in the rankings to #13 collecting 500 points for the win.

Conners is now the highest ranked Canadian player in the Fed Ex Cup.

Corey had his wife Malory and family and friends following all week with his good friends on tour Mackenzie Hughes, Nick Taylor and, Joel Dahmen waiting for him on the 18th hole to celebrate his huge victory (with Mac Hughes celebrating like a true Canadian with two beer in his hands).

Conners golf journey has taken him across the world playing on tours including PGA Tour Latinoamerica, Mackenzie Tour Canada, Web.com Tour and now the PGA Tour.

The 27-year-old from Listowell, Ontario punched his ticket to his first Masters.

Mike Weir, who is one of Conners idols and keeps in contact with him constantly, Mike told him this week to "stay focused and stay within your game."

Canadians now have a chance to cheer for a Canadian at the Masters after this huge day in Canadian Golf.
