The PGA of Canada Player Rankings presented by RBC saw major movement following the PGA Championship of Canada sponsored by Mr. Lube and presented by TaylorMade-adidas Golf.

By virtue of his runner-up finish at Deer Ridge, Point Grey Golf & Country Club’s Bryn Parry reclaimed the top spot. With this No. 1-ranking, Parry earns an exemption into next month’s RBC Canadian Open at Glen Abbey Golf Club in Oakville, Ont.

“It is obviously very cool and another exciting thing to look forward to this summer,” Parry said when he learned of the exemption last week at Deer Ridge.

With his win at the PGA Championship of Canada, Jean-Philip Cornellier moves from No. 40, to inside the top 15 at No. 14.

Other monster movers after last week’s PGA Championship of Canada include Marc Hurtubise, up 45 spots to No. 49; Philippe Gariepy up 29 positions to No. 78; and Wes Heffernan landing at No. 61, up 25 spots.

The new-look top 10 is as follow:

1. Bryn Parry (Point Grey Golf & Country Club)
2. Oliver Tubb (University Golf Club)
3. Marc-Etienne Bussieres (Club de Golf Longchamp)
4. Danny King (The Performance Academy at Magna)
5. Billy Walsh (Fairtree Golf Centre)
6. Dave Levesque (Golf Chateau Bromont)
7. Lee Curry (Camelot Golf & Country Club)
8. Brian McCann (Brampton Golf & Country Club)
9. Mike Belbin (Royal Mayfair Golf Club)
10. Nick Kenney (The National Golf Club of Canada)

The PGA of Canada Player Rankings presented by RBC are based on a three-year rotation, meaning any points earned in 2014 will be lost at the conclusion of that same event in 2017.

PGA of Canada members can accumulate points from four championships per year, however, if members play in more than two championships within ‘Categories A, B, C and D,’ they will only receive points for the two events with the highest point totals.

The Mike Weir Player of the Year Award recognizes as an outstanding player among the ranks of the PGA of Canada membership. The Player of the Year will be awarded to the member who attains the most points based on the criteria within the PGA of Canada Player Rankings for the calendar year of the award.
