Hosting 18 active duty servicemen and servicewomen from east coast Navy golf courses, the inaugural Billy Hurley III and the Brave Golf Tournament will benefit the Anchor Scholarship Foundation, Naval Academy Athletics and one junior golfer scholarship. This one-of-a-kind event will generate excitement and support for meaningful philanthropic organizations that have helped shape Billy’s career, while offering a tremendous opportunity for sponsors to host active duty men and women to play and interact with PGA TOUR champion Billy Hurley III, the only U.S. Naval Academy graduate and veteran currently on TOUR.
Billy, an emerging force in the world of golf, served five years active duty as a Surface Warfare Officer, which included time on a destroyer in the Persian Gulf protecting Iraqi oil platforms, before returning to civilian life as a full-time TOUR contender.
The event, to be held at the United States Naval Academy Golf Club in Annapolis, Md., will feature 18 military golfers picked to play with Billy by a raffle drawing from military golf clubs across the country.
Preceding Billy Hurley III and the Brave Golf Tournament will be the first-ever Billy Hurley III Junior Championship. This two-day, 36-hole event will feature some of the Middle Atlantic’s best junior golfers in a competitive invitational format with three separate open quali ers for juniors.
