DAYTONA BEACH, Florida — The Ladies Professional Golf Association (LPGA) announced that Headspace, a global leader in meditation and mindfulness, has been appointed as the Official Mental Training Provider of the LPGA. Headspace will introduce LPGA players and fans to its meditation and mindfulness content on everything from sports performance to sleep.
"The LPGA is proud to welcome Headspace to our LPGA family," said LPGA Chief Tour Operations Officer, Heather Daly-Donofrio. "Our athletes are every bit as focused on their mental training as their physical, and Headspace will provide them with a variety of meditation tools to help them prepare and perform their best - both on and off the golf course. To have such comprehensive content at their fingertips, whenever and wherever they need it, makes this an ideal choice for our athletes."
"An athlete’s mental training is as important as physical training to their success, especially in a sport like golf which is known for being a mental game. Meditation and mindfulness training help athletes develop the mental skills to play in the present moment with a balance of focus and ease," said Lindsay Shaffer, Head of Sports and Fitness at Headspace. "We are proud to be the official mental training partner of the LPGA, helping athletes to perform at their fullest potential while supporting their overall health and happiness."
In addition to its commitment to help improve the lives and performances of players on both the LPGA Tour and the qualifying Symetra Tour, Headspace is partnering with the LPGA's Leadership Academies in 2019 and will provide each participant with an annual membership. LPGA Leadership Academies are for girls aged from 14-17 who apply to attend through an essay process on www.girlsgolf.org.
