Maple Leaf Junior Golf Tour Announces 2019 IMG Academy Junior World Championship Exemptions

VANCOUVER, British Columbia — The Boston Pizza-presented Maple Leaf Junior Golf Tour (MJT) is pleased to announce the names of players receiving exemptions into the 2019 IMG Academy Junior World Championship in San Diego, CA, July 8 to 12. 

Founded in 1968, this Junior World Championship is one of the largest of such events in the world with regularly over 1200 participants representing 56 countries and 42 states. The MJT ran a qualifying series across the country and the following players will be representing the MJT and Canada at this year’s IMG Academy Junior World Championship:

Girls 7-8: Kathleen Dunn (Surrey, BC); Alessandra Sundquist (Calgary, AB)
Girls 9-10: Anna Huang (Vancouver, BC); Tierra Elchuk (Kelowna, BC)
Girls 11-12: Vanessa Zhang (Vancouver, BC); Elise Liu (Richmond, BC)
Girls 13-14: Martina Yu (Coquitlam, BC); Erin Lee (Langley, BC); Ella Kozak (Yorkton, SK)
Girls 15-18: Lauren Kim (Surrey, BC)

Boys 7-8: Tiger Zhao (Vancouver, BC); Yul Koh (Surrey, BC)
Boys 9-10: Alex Zhang (Richmond, BC); Ethan Zeng (Vancouver, BC)
Boys 11-12: Brett Jones (Calgary, AB); Luke Smith (Toronto, ON); Charlie Gillespie (Calgary, AB)
Boys 13-14: Jaiden Koonar (Calgary, AB); Cooper Humphreys (Kelowna, BC)
Boys 15-18: Reid Svendsen (Spruce Grove, AB)

The non-profit Maple Leaf Junior Golf Tour presented by Boston Pizza is Canada’s number one-played JuniorGolf Tour as well as the only national junior tour run exclusively by PGA of Canada Professionals and the ‘Road to CollegeGolf’ in Canada. The organization is presented nationally by Boston Pizza and supported by valued Premier, Tournament and Product Partners. The MJT hosts close to 80 events across Canada, including free Ford Go Golf Junior Clinics, the MJT MiniTour for 7 to 12 year olds, the Collegiate Tour for 19 to 23 year olds, and multi-day events for competitive players aged 11 to 18 which are also qualifiers for international competitions.
