“We are excited to celebrate the achievements of both Michael Schurman and SCOREGolf at this year’s PGA of Canada Night presented by DCM,” said PGA of Canada President Mark Patterson.
Schurman, who will be inducted into the PGA of Canada’s Hall of Fame, is being recognized for his significant contributions to the Canadian golf industry over his 50-year career as a PGA of Canada professional.
Schurman said his proudest accomplishment was obtaining Master Professional accreditation from the PGA of Canada. He is one of only 24 members in the association’s 109-year history to achieve this status.
“His contributions to the game, the PGA of Canada and his community over a career that began in the mid-’60s is impressive, to say the least,” said Tom Greiner, chair of the PGA of Canada Hall of Fame committee. “Mr. Schurman has devoted his entire life to the betterment of golf and continues to be active in association affairs to this day.”
SCOREGolf will receive the George Cumming Distinguished Service Award, presented to an individual or organization who displays leadership and humanitarian qualities, including integrity, sportsmanship and enthusiasm for the game of golf.
Schurman and SCOREGolf will be honoured during PGA of Canada Night presented by DCM at the PGA Merchandise Show in Orlando, Fla., which has quickly grown into the largest annual celebration of Canadian golf.
PGA of Canada Night presented by DCM takes place January 23, 2020, from 5 to 7 p.m. in room W340 (Sunburst Ballroom) at the Orange Country Convention Center. Admittance is free, and those visiting the PGA Merchandise Show are encouraged to attend.
