PGA of BC Releases 2020 Championship Schedule

RICHMOND, British Columbia — The PGA of BC will conduct eight championship events in seven different British Columbia communities during the 2020 season, once again providing a number of opportunities for Association members to compete against their colleagues and alongside amateurs from their facilities.
This year’s championship schedule features competitions in three of the PGA of BC’s geographical regions. The calendar will once again kick off in late May with the Tournament of Champions –- taking place this year at Nanaimo Golf Club during the facility’s 100th anniversary season –- and conclude with the Women’s Championship in late September.

May 25 – Nanaimo Golf Club, Nanaimo
Format: Two-person teams (Club Professional & amateur); 18 holes best-ball
2019 Champions: The Tour LAB @ Northview (Matthew Palsenbarg & Jackson Jacob)
- Assistants’ & Seniors’ Championships presented by Natera Sport & Arbor Memorial Inc.
June 3-4 – Talking Rock Golf Course, Chase
Format: 36 holes individual stroke play
2019 Assistants’ Champion: Andrew Rasmussen (Delta Golf Centre)
2019 Seniors’ Champion: Philip Jonas (Philip Jonas Golf Academy)
- G&G Golf Company & Callaway Golf Pro-Assistant Championship
July 6-7 – The Okanagan Golf Club (Quail), Kelowna
Format: Two-person teams; 18 holes best-ball, 18 holes scramble
2019 Champions: Kamloops Golf & Country Club (Alec Hubert & Ian Henson)
- Jack McLaughlin Memorial Pro-Junior Championship presented by COBRA PUMA Golf
July 23 – Vernon Golf & Country Club, Vernon
Format: Four-person teams (one Golf Professional & three juniors), 18 holes two-net best-ball

Aug. 24-25 – Crown Isle Resort & Golf Community, Courtenay
Format: 36 holes individual stroke play
2019 Champion: Bryn Parry (Seymour Creek Golf Centre)
- Srixon/Cleveland Golf/XXIO Club Professional Championship presented by Oakcreek Golf & Turf
Sept. 21-22 – Nicklaus North Golf Course, Whistler
Format: 36 holes individual stroke play
2019 Champion: Mark Kitts (Shadow Ridge Golf Club)
- Women’s Championship presented by Dexim Golfwear
Sept. 29-30 – Richmond Country Club, Richmond
Format: 36 holes individual stableford
2019 Champion: Salimah Mussani (Riverway Golf Course)
Registration for all events will open to eligible PGA of BC Professionals on April 1. Space will be limited for all tournaments and events often fill up quickly, so early registration is encouraged to ensure your place in the field. Reduced registration fees are also available to those signing up at least three weeks prior to a tournament’s start date.

Members are also reminded of the opportunity to apply for the PGA of BC Event Subsidy Grant to help subsidize the cost of participating in Association events and championships. New for 2020, members can apply for grants of $300 to help reimburse the cost of travel, registration fees, accommodations or other relevant expenses.
