One of the world’s largest fundraisers to help individuals and families affected by Autism is coming to the Vancouver Golf Club on September 11, 2017.
The Els for Autism Foundation holds golf tournaments around the world each year to raise money for autism programs and services. Three-time major tournament winner Ernie Els and his wife Liezl started the Foundation in 2009 after their son Ben was diagnosed with autism.
“We hold four events across Canada every year,” says Richard Styka, co-chair of the Vancouver event. “Currently, 1 in 68 children has been identified with Autism. Autism Spectrum Disorder affects normal brain development. Support and intervention can be costly for families and for those affected”. Last year, Els for Autism Canada was able to give a total of $51,000 to B.C. organizations that support people on the Autism spectrum and their families.
SAP and RBC are major sponsors for the Els for Autism golf events across Canada, including the Vancouver Golf Club event. Additional sponsors are needed, and players are welcome to sign up online.
“Not only will it be a fun day of golf for a great cause, but the winning team or any team that raises more than $13,000, will be invited to the Grand Finale to meet Ernie and Liezl and participate in the final tournament,” says Richard Styka.
